Timber Drum Co., a small workshop located in Nashville, Tennessee, is dedicated to crafting MADE IN U.S.A. instruments using locally sourced materials. The sound of these wood blocks is natural, warm, and full of rich, knocking tones that can only be achieved through hand-crafted wood materials. This is the real and authentic wood block sound that plastic blocks can only attempt to mimic.
Constructed from solid hardwood, the Timber Drum Co. wood block is made from a single piece of real Tennessee hardwood, providing an organic, warm, and woody sound that plastic blocks can never fully replicate. The hand-rubbed oil finish darkens the look while bringing out the natural wood grain, adding to the authentic aesthetic.
The large size wood block measures 8" long x 2.5" deep x 1.8" high, creating the lowest pitch out of the three blocks (small, medium, and large) produced by Timber Drum Co. This large size allows for the creation of complex rhythms with changes in pitch, as the larger the block, the lower the pitch.
Included with the wood block is an 8" mallet with a hard polymer head, which is designed to produce a sharp, knocking attack note with plenty of volume. Additionally, four rubber feet are provided and can be applied to the block using the adhesive backing, allowing for customization and improved stability during use.
Crafted from a single solid piece of hardwood, the Timber Drum Co. wood block is exceptionally durable and can withstand multiple uses from mallets and other percussion tools. For the best tone, users are advised to play near the center and close to the edge of the block.
