The MEINL Caxixis are hand-woven with a coconut bottom, offering a crystal-clear, high-pitched sound with great projection. These caxixis (also known as basket shakers) are crafted by hand using all-natural rattan, a material that provides a soft sound texture with a mellow, earthy timbre, as well as a unique appearance, with each one slightly different due to the handmade design.
Underneath, the caxixis feature a natural dried coconut shell cap, allowing users to play accent notes and mix up their shaker patterns. These versatile instruments can be used in a drum set, for percussion in live or studio work, and are also great for drum circles, shaman healing journeys, meditation, sound baths, yoga, musical gatherings, or for achieving relaxing trance states.
The handles are designed for both structure and appearance, but they may also be used for some playing motions, such as straight up and down. However, it's important to note that the handles are not intended for regular use as a grip.
The caxixis come in three sizes – small, medium, and large – with the pitch getting lower as the size increases. The small size measures 6 1/2" H x 3" W.
