The MEINL FWB400 Professional Series Free Ride Wood Bongos are the preferred model among many top percussionists, outfitted with exclusive MEINL hardware. The MEINL patented Free Ride Suspension System means the drums are joined together with no holes drilled in the shells, maximizing the amount of resonance and warm tones that the Rubber Wood is known for producing. All MEINL bongo stands and mounts are equipped to securely hold the Free Ride mounting system in place.
Professional Series Wood bongos are equipped with True Skin cow heads that have exceptional sound qualities, and include a tuning key, accessory pouch, and tune-up oil. Paired with any MEINL Congas, these bongos are a great start or finish to your percussion set up! The Meinl Professional Bongo Stand (Model# TMB-S) for seated players will also allow you to comfortably set these up with your drum kit.
The Meinl Professional Series bongos are built with special features like thicker rims, resonance shaping areas, and unique heads for an exquisite sound, making them fit for any touring or recording musician, along with serious hobbyists. The solid rubberwood staves are assembled based on uniform qualities like color and grain for a consistent sound, and the shells are contoured to enhance resonance and project a fuller overall tone.
Outfitted with Meinl True Skin cow heads, the bongos' response leans toward more warmth and depth along with superb mid-range tone and an outstanding feel, with the heads measuring 7" and 8 ½". The Meinl Free Ride Suspension System, a patented design that avoids holes being drilled into the shells, allows for greater resonance and works with any bongo stand.
The 3 mm Meinl SSR rounded rims sit lower than traditional bongo rims and feature a rounded edge for comfort and control, helping to avoid harsh or unwanted contact with the rim as you play with your hands. Four 8 mm chrome plated steel tuning lugs on each drum allow you to dial-in your desired pitch easily, and a tuning wrench is included with these bongos for quick, on-the-spot adjustments or head changes.
