Pepote is a master cajon craftsman who has dedicated countless hours to testing wood combinations, varnishes, and innovative design elements to achieve the best possible sound quality and playing feel. He has created a special, unbreakable snare string, designed baffles and pop filters, and refined every aspect of the cajon's construction to ensure that these instruments are truly exceptional.
The Meinl Artisan Edition Cajons feature a 7-ply Baltic birch body and frontplate, which deliver a rich, punchy, and balanced tone. Baltic birch is a material commonly used in high-end drum set construction, favored by players who are serious about sound.
The driving force behind the cajon's signature snare sound is the two fixed sets of three custom, hand-wound micro-coiled steel strings that span the frontplate. These strings are pre-tuned to create a sensitive, lush snare tone that won't require adjustment.
The cajon's design features rounded corners and sanded-down thumb notches, allowing for exceptional hand contact and a more comfortable playing experience. Additionally, the four silicone feet keep the cajon stable on any surface, protecting the instrument while eliminating vibrations to preserve its crystal-clear sound quality.
